Bali Surf Spots | Local Knowledge
Bali is famed for jungles, volcanic mountain ranges, and famous rice paddies as well as beaches. In fact, the culture of Hindus was once an important source of tourists & travelers surfing in Bali, & the Hindu culture remains widespread on this island of god today. The vast variety of reefs that run across the coastline of Bali makes it unique. Travelers, surfers or expatriates perceive the island to be an incredible paradise. Most can’t bear going home!
With world class waves, you can expect surf progression to be fast as you have year round consistent waves to practise on around the whole of Bali’s west coast which is know as the best surfing beaches for both intermediate and advanced surfers. Surf schools in Bali is a must if you want to experience local culture as you have frequent surf trips & do your surf lessons. A Bali surf trip is never complete if you’ve never joined a surf camp as you get to go to popular surf destinations with a local surf guide/ surf instructor. The Surf Team Bali surf guide helps you avoid common mistakes that even an advanced surfer/ pro surfers such as low tide in some surf breaks that can be dangerous due to shallow reef(jagged reef). Surf spots around most of the island in Bali are quite tide sensitive especially a reef break, however, if your instructor is not experienced enough, they will not even talk about bringing you there. Some surfing lessons takes you out on a boat ride to get some pumping waves & yes this can happen even for complete beginners as they know the perfect line up for each surf spot. You can expect catching & surfing more waves during your Bali surfing camps with a local pro surfing guide.

Best time to surf in Bali
Like most tropical nations, Indonesia is both wet(Bali’s rainy season) & dry season, with monsoon around November onwards till January. Summer is pretty much around the whole year even when it’s monsoon season, in Kuta, it’s not as gloomy as you think & that people still surf! This generally just means that most days are sunny & hot, with a short torrential storm at the end. Perfect way to end the day for some Bintang & snuggles we say!
Bali Surf Season & Weather
Although surfing in Bali can be a full time thing, when planning to visit Bali for your vacation, its’s good to know that travelling on wet days is cheaper as fewer people are around. You can choose between East coast and West coast depending upon the season to get the greatest surf. The perfect combination of weather & waves are found on west coast of Bali during dry seasons so you have everything to see & experience from white sandy beaches to beach club .
The Best Of Surf Camps In Bali
We highly recommend taking surfing courses(surf camp) in Bali. These are our favourite trip experiences because when you attend surf camps, you will not only know that you will be taken to some of the most amazing beaches in Bali, you get to experience the local culture as well, instead of staying in an ordinary hostel or surf resort and taking lessons on the surf at the beaches. Check dates & availability of the surf lesson(camps) or individual lessons.
